In this workshop, Mike will work alongside students to demonstrate and guide the investigation of various techniques including constructing multicomponent forms, slip trailing, water etching, gold luster application, and using Mike’s special-purpose glazes. Mike will speak about his philosophy for making; he will provide tips to students about finding your identity in clay and enhancing your studio practice with professional considerations. Beginning through advanced students are welcome.

Materials to bring:

  • Basic working tools
  • 3 to 6 pieces of bisqueware

Optional materials to bring:

  • Slip trailing bottles
  • Personal toiletries (shampoo, hairdryer, etc. — linens and towels are provided)
  • Snacks
  • Personal tools
  • Notebook and pen/pencil
  • Water bottle
  • Layers for cool evenings
  • Hiking shoes
  • Raincoat

When: Sunday, July 26 – Friday, July 31, 2026

Time: Sunday, 5:00PM – Friday, 12:00PM 

Skill Level: Beginner Friendly, Intermediate, Advanced (must have basic throwing skills)

Cost: Varies depending on needs.

Tuition Only: $650 (Price includes lunches and welcome dinner.) *You can add additional meals at the end of the registration form.

Tuition + Lodging: $1,350 single room, $1,075 shared room (Price includes all meals.)
